There are fears that the NSW RBT breathalyser can be triggered by perfume, toothpaste, aftershave, mouthwash and hand sanitiser.
It appears that some motorists who were innocent, could have been unfairly accused of drink driving.
NSW Police altered their system of roadside breath testing in 2008 for more drivers to be tested. Motorists pulled over for an RBT are first told to count to five or 10 in what is called a presumptive, or screening test.
