Australian Study Says Live Music Reduces Alcohol Violence

Sydney’s lockout laws have been hailed by some as a blessing and condemned by others as a curse, having negatively impacted the city’s music community and nightlife.

According to a recent article the attempts by government to curb alcohol fuelled violence have actually killed the music scene in the city.

The article cited the work of expert, Dr Anne Fox, a British anthropologist who’s specialised in the study of drinking cultures and studied Australian and New Zealand drinking cultures in 2013. She found that live music is “good at preventing alcohol fuelled violence”, the writer claims.
