Although sugary drinks like lemonade and cola have a bad reputation for being bad for your health, full of sugar and high in calories, research has emerged which reveals that people in most countries get more calories from alcohol than sugary drinks.
The data suggests that the UK as well South Korea, Poland, Finland, Czech Republic and Germany get more daily calories from alcohol than sugary drinks.
The only country examined that got more calories from sugary drink intake daily is Taiwan.
Analysts from Euromonitor International examined 24 countries before coming to the realisation that most have a higher daily calories consumption from alcoholic drinks than sugary drinks.
For example in the UK, adults drink more than 98 calories from sweetened drinks and 106 from alcoholic drinks.
