Domestic alcohol consumption in Australia has been on a steady decline since 1990 to today and is expected to continue to do so.
According to IBISWorld data, domestic alcohol consumption hit 9.37 litres per capita in 2016-17, from 10.57 litres in 1990-91.
By 2023-24 alcohol consumption in the nation is expected to drop to 8.54 litres.
The consumption of beer, wine and spirits has reached a 55 year low, largely due to government legislation and the increasing health consciousness among consumers.
