According to a recent study intelligent people drink more alcohol than those who are less intelligent.

The study was published in Psychology Today and claims that smarter people are more likely to binge drink and get drunk than people who don’t drink.

According to scientists drinking alcohol is the latest behaviour to be categorised as “evoluntionarily novel”, in other words it’s a behaviour we learned, not something our ancestors did so the ability to learn it and handle it is an indication of intellectual ability.

Personally it’s hard to believe binge drinking and getting drunk can be described as “intelligent” given the risks and consequences.
