According to recent studies, while stress may be the cause of alzheimers, alcohol consumption may actually reduce the risk.
The Danish Alzheimer’s Intervention Study (DAISY), found that moderate alcohol consumption can lower the risk of dying from the disease. The results came from data collected on 330 people with early stage dementia or Alzheimer’s and their primary carers from Denmark.
Researchers found that consumption of two to three units of alcohol a day was linked to a 77 per cent lower risk of death compared with one or fewer daily units.
