ALDI is one of the alcohol suppliers taking their responsible service of alcohol very seriously.
There have been accounts of shoppers being denied their alcohol sales because their underage kids picked up, moved or even just touched the bottle of alcohol.
In Shoalhaven, NSW, some stores are refusing to sell alcohol to adults whose kids touched the bottle before it reached checkout.
Are these rules a little to strict or are they justified given the alternative?
Let’s keep in mind that in NSW supplying alcohol to minors results in the following consequences,
- on-the-spot penalty notice of $1,100,
- court imposed fines of up to $11,000 and/or 12 months imprisonment, and
- the suspension or cancellation of your venue’s liquor licence.
