Cultures where alcohol is served at breakfast tend to have a better drinking culture, like Italy, which is why one North Perth small bar owner has applied for a licence to serve alcohol from 7am in the morning.
People tend to get drunk after dark, the bar owner claims which is why he wants his sales period extended from 11am-7am.
The man said serving alcohol earlier in the day was more in line with a more mature attitude towards alcohol. Alcohol is enjoyed in moderation and the taste enjoyed rather than being abused as it is after dark.
He also explained that in Italy, where he comes from, it was common for people to drink grappa and black sambucca with their morning coffees.
