Drinking before you swim is a dangerous activity, as one in four drowning deaths over the past 10 years has proven. According to statistics 1932 men have drowned overall in the past decade.
This has prompted Royal Life Saving (RLS) to launch a campaign for drowning prevention, aiming to reduce the number of men who drown after drinking alcohol.
The ‘Don’t Let Your Mates Drink and Drown’ campaign was developed with the support of the Federal Government to address the culture of drinking around water, which is more common amongst men. Research shows men are four times more likely to drown that women.
