  • ACT Government Cracking Down on Alcohol Fuelled Crime

    The ACT government may resort to earlier lockouts and raising alcohol prices in an effort to curb alcohol-related crime.

    Canberra’s pubs and clubs may be forced to close earlier following the release of a discussion paper to gauge the community and industry’s opinions on what should happen next.

    The Hotel’s Association says the state government is being unfairly influences by anti-alcohol campaigners and also accused them of sending mixed messages to the alcohol/ hospitality industry.

  • Legal Drinking Age in Australia in Question Again

    We know that as servers of alcohol we cannot serve alcohol to anyone under the age of 18. But is this drinking age the right one? Are 18 year olds, old enough to make responsible decisions about drinking? According to the National Drug Law Enforcement Research Fund, they are not and the legal drinking age in Australia should be raised to 21.

    According to a report by the group, raising the legal drinking age will help curb alcohol related violence and abuse.
