    New liquor laws have been passed by the ACT state government which aim to crack down on parents who supply their children or other minors with alcohol irresponsibly.

    The Liquor Amendment Bill brings the state in line with liquor laws in other states and territories.

    Not everyone is in favour of the amendment, The ACT Opposition says the laws are too vague.

  • Chinese Liquor Suppliers Adding Viagra to Alcohol

    Chinese police are investigating alcohol suppliers for apparently adding Viagra to alcohol and marketing it as having added health benefits.

    Authorities found that a total of 69 wine products, from 52 companies, had the drug or a substitute, as an additive.

    Nineteen companies are under criminal investigation.

    After 2 years of development the Retail Savvy Group’s cocktails on tap are finally ready for the public.

    Father’s Office was the first venue to offer the 12 different cocktails on tap and bartenders at the venue have been busy practicing to serve the tapped cocktails which make service of cocktails much faster and more convenient.

    Asian Beer Café is the second venue to offer the tapped cocktails.

  • Alcohol Abuse Higher in Rural Areas

    A recent report shows that health is poorer in rural areas, and alcohol consumption is higher. The report also found that suicide rates are 66 per cent higher.

    The poll results were released in the Medical Research and Rural Health report, created by Sydney’s Garvan Institute of Medical Research.

    Regardless of where you serve alcohol, rural areas or big cities, according to Australian legislation, you must enforce Responsible Service of Alcohol laws, to help tackle alcohol related problems affecting the community.

  • International Wine Challenge finds Wine Faux Pas Common

    If you aren’t an expert on wines, don’t worry you’re not alone…according to a poll by the International Wine Challenge.

    One of the interesting findings of the poll was that a portion of wine drinkers in the UK had pronounced the ‘t’ in merlot or Pinot. It also revealed that almost one third gulped wine instead of sipping it.
