Recent studies found that moderate drinking was not associated with weight gain, but according to Professor Jean-Philippe Chaput of the faculty of medicine at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario moderate drinking itself does not maintain weight but the healthy behaviour associated with it.

People tend to get drunk after dark, the bar owner claims which is why he wants his sales period extended from 11am-7am.

The man said serving alcohol earlier in the day was more in line with a more mature attitude towards alcohol. Alcohol is enjoyed in moderation and the taste enjoyed rather than being abused as it is after dark.

He also explained that in Italy, where he comes from, it was common for people to drink grappa and black sambucca with their morning coffees.
