  • Being Your Own Mixologist – After Getting Your Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate

By getting your responsible service of alcohol certificate you are allowing yourself to work in any bar or restaurant around Australia. This opens up countless doors, but one of these doors is the one that leads to professional mixology, which can be studied rather intently. You might not think it but new drink mixes are being invented every day, we all remember the ‘flaming homer’ episode of The Simpsons right? If you catch onto a new mix that people love then you could sign it to your name and have the most distinct and popular bar in the town! This is of course a rather unrealistic expectation but nevertheless it could happen!

Mixology Is More Fun When Serving People – After You Have Your Responsible Service of Alcohol

Sure it can be fun to mix drinks on your own at home and drink them yourself or with family or friends, and this is quite often necessary when testing drinks you make. But once you have passed that step and think that you have really hit a new mix that people will love, then you will want to serve this drink to people and see how the wider community likes it. To do this you need to get your responsible service of alcohol certificate online. People often mix up the difference between a bartender and a mixologist, and these are fairly widely debated titles so don’t think that one definition is right. If you work behind a bar and mix drinks in your spare time, you could still call yourself a mixologist or a bartender. But there are people who solely focus on mixing drinks (mixologists) and there are people who share no interest in the activity while just simply serving drinks that are already existent (bartenders). It’s up to you to decide which one you want to be, but know that you CAN be both! In my opinion this is what makes bar tending much more fun, the ability to mix drinks and develop something that you can sign your name to and stand by as your specialty. This is something, again, that can only be done when you have completed your responsible service of alcohol course online. One thing to note is that when it comes to bartenders and mixologists, one is not better than the other as people sometimes argue. For more information on Mixology, check out this website!

  • Reducing The Risk of Alcohol Related Disease – Responsible Service of Alcohol

The responsible service of alcohol course teaches you that it is important to know what the effects of alcohol exposure on a mass level is. The effects of alcohol, though, do vary based on gender, age, mental health, drug use and existing medical conditions. These different conditions vary the effects of alcohol and vary how harshly you are effected by it, especially if you go beyond the recommended drinks per day, which is shown in the responsible service of alcohol course. Government guidelines state that you should not have more than 2 beers per day to reduce chances of alcohol related disease, and on a single occasion, you should not have more than 4 drinks on a single occasion to reduce chances of alcohol related accidents.

    What Health Effects Are There?

The risk of health related effects from alcohol is greatly increased if you have a long history of drinking as responsible service of alcohol online teaches, so basically, if you drink a lot you have a much greater chance of alcohol related health effects. But the effects are that you could increase the risk of brain damage, heart disease, high blood pressure and different types of cancers. But there are many health effecting things that can be caused by drinking, such as car accidents, violence, and accidents in general (not like spilling your beer).

Responsible Service of Alcohol Course – What is a standard drink?

A standard drink, is an alcoholic drink that contains 10 grams of pure alcohol, but this is often easy to lose track of because there are no standard drinking cups within Australia.  So if you are drinking alcohol you have to know exactly how much alcohol there is per 100ml in order to work out how many drinks you have had. If you mess this up then they could end up driving home while over the limit, and not even know it. Every labeled drink container does tell you how many standard drinks it contains though, so that it is easier for you to work it out. In some cases when it s a slow night you may even be able to count how many standard drinks a patron has had. Making sure that you use the right measures when you make up spirits etc is very important. If someone thinks they are getting a single nip but you give them a double, then they will count incorrectly and may harm themselves or others.

    Some Standard Drinking Tips

These are some standard drinking tips you should follow for your own safety presented by the Australian Government health department:

    • Set limits for yourself and stick to them
    • Start with non-alcoholic drinks and alternate with alcoholic drinks
    • Eat before or while you are drinking
    • Try drinks with a lower alcohol content
    • Drink slowly
    • If you participate in rounds of drinks try to include some non-alcoholic drinks

This information is further elaborated on in the Responsible service of alcohol course so that you can serve responsibly.

  • Australian Drinking Etiquette – RSA Course

The RSA course does not teach drinking etiquette, instead it teaches how to serve safely. But don’t think that drinking can be done in any way! There is a particular etiquette to it in Australia that you may not realise, so whether you work behind a bar or visit the bar often, always remember that drinking is a (sometimes) classy routine! In Australia we don’t have a lot of expectations when we start drinking, it’s a casual thing that you do with your mates to have a good time.

Australian Drinking Heritage – Not in the RSA Course!

Australia has a prominent drinking culture that was defined when the convicts first came over. Now it’s not fair to call Australia the country that drinks the most, but it was called that back in it’s early days. We were estimated to drink the most of any other country per capita when Australia was first settled, not fun for RSA course bar tenders if it had existed back then. But one tradition was noted back then, and has been kept ever since. This tradition is that you do not drink alone. It  is considered ‘poor form,’ and one observer stated it best when he was in Australia through 1887. He stated,

All through Australia, in every class, it is not considered good form for a man to drink by himself. Very few even of the most hopeless drunkards ever do so. The consequence is, that when a man feels inclined to drink, he immediately looks out for someone to drink with” “At whatever hour of the day a man meets another whom he has not seen for say twelve hours, etiquette requires that he shall incontinently invite him to come and drink. This is a custom that pervades every class in the colony, and cannot be departed from without something more than a breach of good manners.”Finch Hatton 1887

The RSA Course Blog – fun stat!

It was reported that when Australia was first inhabited, the colonizers brought enough food for two years, and enough grog for four. With all this alcohol, there was obviously a lot of violence and unsafe dealings – something that a RSA Course would help with! But there is so much more to the drinking culture in Australia you should be aware of such as shouting (buying a round of beer for everyone) and if you want more information on this, check out this website!

If you would truly like to be a part of Australia’s drinking culture, then you should get online and grab your responsible service of alcohol certificate this week with the fast and simple online process, so that you can serve alcohol responsibly!

  • Getting Back To The Basics – Responsible Service of Alcohol

The Responsible Service of Alcohol Course – Don’t Forget Basics!

Back To the Basics – responsible service of alcohol is very important and sometimes you have to go back to the basics, both in serving drinks and serving responsibly. It is necessary to know the basics of serving properly, one of which is observing body language. You need to be able to observe people and see if they are showing signs of drunkenness.  If you see this sort of thing then you need to be able to cut someone off from their drinks supply. While you may be fully focused on your job, it could be rather easy to forget to observe body language, which  is the basics of serving at a bar. If you are serving in a crowded bar and you can’t keep track of patrons, then observe the ones that are ordering drinks and especially their voice. This will help you keep track of those people who are drinking a lot, and then you can save them from potential harm such as driving drunk and getting into a fight – the responsible service of alcohol course teaches that this is first priority. In addition, serving basic drinks can be the life blood of your bar, so don’t forget these basics!

  • Vodka – The Multipurpose Drink – RSA Certificate Comes First!

Your RSA Certificate! And Serving Alcohol In A Bar

When In Doubt, Vodka can be the best option, but it is highly alcoholic and is easy to over serve, and having your RSA certificate means you know how to avoid this. When you get an indecisive customer, suggest something palatable and smooth. Vodka drinks are easy and well received. The RSA course can give you the tools to serve correctly behind a bar, and can teach you what to do when you notice a patron who has been drinking too much. It is your duty to protect people drinking when you are the one serving them the drinks, and you need to have your RSA certificate. So, yes, Vodka can be a good drink to serve to anyone who is indecisive, but you need to be aware of exactly what you are giving them, as you’re responsible for their intake. You also need to tell them what you are serving them; if you are giving them vodka, tell them how much. If it is something else like Jagermeister, then still tell them how much you are giving them in the way of standard drinks or they may not understand it.

This is what the RSA Course will teach you and is what will keep your bar safe.
