It has been suggested that to improve the safety of all road users, alcohol interlocks be fitted into all Australian vehicles.

Could breath testing really by a thing for all drivers everytime they get behind the wheel.

The aggressive strategy has was put forward by AustRoads, the peak road safety body.

Victoria brought in tougher conditions in October 2014 requiring all repeat drink-drivers, and anyone who blows over 0.07, to fit a mandatory interlock. At the moment there are 8861 vehicles in Victoria that have interlock devices fitted and 1305 motorists have begun using one since the tougher laws took effect.
