  • Study Into Sydney and Melbourne Bars

According to a secret drinking study conducted at venues around the country, levels of intoxication increase by 11 per cent after midnight, making a case for the lockout laws.

The number of males and young people in a venue also impacted the levels of intoxication in the venue.

Researchers visited 62 different venues in five major cities across the country and made 828 observations of alcohol intoxication before making their deductions.

The study’s co-author Professor Peter Miller, from Deakin University, said  there was a “huge surge” in intoxicated people after midnight.

  • Australian Suffering from Poisoning in Bali after Drinking Cheap Liquor

While a holiday is a time to relax and let loose, we still need to be vigilant when it comes to what we eat and drink.

Actually when we’re on holiday we need to be even more cautious about the drinks we consume and a case involving one Australian woman is an example of why.

The Perth woman suffered suspected methanol poisoning while on holiday in Bali and had to undergo emergency surgery to have half her pancreas removed.

The incident has left the woman with difficulty walking and speaking, but even worse is the fact that she may be stuck on the island due to not being able to pay her medical bills of more than $50,000.

The Australian Medical Association renewed its concerns about the number of people suffering methanol poisoning in Indonesia and advised Australians to avoid spirits if travelling to Indonesia.

  • Check Out This Cool Robotic Bar

There’s a cool new way to get your cocktails made, a robotic bartender.

The robotic bar system, Makr Shakr is a world first, brought to Australia by International Trade and Procurement Services.

The robot works with an app which users can enter their combinations which are then mixed by 2 robotic arms. The arms movements mimic that of a real bartender and were modelled on the movements of Marco Pelle, Italian dancer and choreographer.

The good thing about the system is that it uses the creativity of the user and involves them in the cocktail creation process by showing them each step.

The 2 six-axis robotic arms are capable of making as many as 120 drinks per hour from 60 different spirits.
