A study out of the UK has found that an alarming number of young people are replacing meals with alcohol.

The phenomenon called “drunkorexia” describes the practice of skipping meals to instead binge drink.

This disburbing trend has been found to be most common among the younger generation of drinkers, particularly males between the ages of 24-34.

According to researchers, a full 40 per cent of men in this age group said they have skipped a meal in favour of drinking alcoholic beverages later in the day.

The problem is also common among young women who are watching their weight, so they skip meals so that they can keep their calorie intake down because of the added calories they will consume when they drink.
