  • Queenslanders Protest Lockout Laws

    The Brisbane community have teamed up to protest the Labor government’s lockout laws that came into effect on Friday, 1 July.

    Brisbane based community group No Curfew, in collaboration with Keep Queensland Open took to the streets to protest the lockout laws last Sunday.

    Meeting at Reddacliff Place, the community members will gather directly in front of Brisbane’s Treasury Casino, to highlight community concerns that it was exempted from the laws.

    Some of the speakers at the rally included key industry workers, politicians opposing the laws and musicians who say the laws will negatively impact the music scene.

    If you’re in Melbourne make your way down to the Australian Drinks Festival where under the guidance of Master Distiller William McHenry, you can create and distil your own gin recipe at a mini lab.

    You’ll get to take home 2x 200ml bottles of your creation and can even forage for your own ingredients to bring to the event.

    The event was also held last year and proved very successful, so organisers warn that tickets are limited this year at $125 each.

  • French Minister Calls for Alcohol Ban at Euros Sensitive Areas

    You’ve probably heard about the violence that erupted between supporters at Euro 2016. Well the French government has announced that as a result, alcohol will be banned in fan zones and other “sensitive” areas at the event.

    Three days of violence recently erupted in Marseille when Russian, English and local French supporters clashed.

    Trouble was also reported in Nice, where local youngsters reported attacked supporters from Northern Ireland and Poland.

  • South Australian Wineries Among Top Five in The World

    Two South Australian wineries were recently recognised as the most awarded in the world by the World Association of Wine Writers and Journalists (WAWWJ).

    With two of the 2015 World Ranking of Wines (WRW) Top 5 Wineries, Australia had more wineries on the list than any other country.

    The wineries received a total of 228 awards together with both Taylors Wines and Wolf Bass Wines representing the country in the top 5 of the Top 100 Wineries in the World for 2015.
