  • Alcohol Laws Worry Hospitality Staff

    As of 1 July 2016 new alcohol laws come into effect in Queensland and staff at pubs and nighclubs are worried at the impact this may have on their safety.

    According to reports, staff are worried that their safety may be put at risk by angry patrons when they come into effect next week.

    When the laws take effect, last drinks will be called in  all the state’s nightclub precincts at 3am. After 3am no alcoholic  beverages will be sold.

    After midnight no shots, shooters and high strength premixed drinks will be sold.

  • More Aussies Becoming Conscious About Their Drinking

    The latest reports indicate that Australians are drinking less but are spending more on alcohol. How is that possible? Apparently drinkers are opting for quality over quantity, choosing higher quality, premium beers and boutique spirits rather than the cheaper varieties.

    And this shift is not only in the pub, even people buying alcohol at liquor stores are choosing premium products. According to Australian Liquor Stores Association CEO Terry Mott specialty and craft beers are increasingly featuring at barbecues and parties.

  • How Will The Drinks Menu Change After Midnight in Queensland?

    The Queensland Government have passed a series of laws that prohibit the serving of alcohol at pubs, clubs and live music venues after 2am and 3am in designated ‘Safe Night Precincts’.

    These laws will be effective as of July 1st 2016 and from February 2017 this will also mean a 1am lockout across 15 Safe Night Out precincts in the state.

    While the new laws are aimed at improving safety in these precincts, there are fears that  it will negatively affect business, not just for pubs, clubs and music venues but the musicians themselves as well.
